CALL TO ARTISTS: Region’s Venues Seek Artist Submissions

FotoFocus is happy to share regional venues seeking artist submissions for their individual exhibitions. Each Venue listed has determined the specifics for their open call and is fully in charge of the selection process. FotoFocus will not influence or participate in the selection process for these exhibitions.

The Dayton Society of Artists (DSA) presents Midwest Americana, a regional call for lens-based artwork open to all artists 18 years or older and living or working in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky. Submit at: daytondsa.org/calls.

Evendale Cultural Arts Center is excited to announce the 2024 Evendale Juried Photography Exhibition, Behind the Lens: Unveiling the Unseen Narratives. This year’s exhibition aligns with the FotoFocus Biennial theme backstories, inviting photographers to explore the hidden narratives that shape our visual world. Xavier University is pleased to call for fine art photographs from current students at any and all local universities. The exhibition What Came Before represents a nod to nostalgia, both collective and personal, and is an effort to facilitate more collaboration between young creatives in the Cincinnati area. Students of any major or concentration are encouraged to participate: you do not have to be a photo major to submit.

Open call for works of photography documenting Behind the Curtain of the touring music scene. Artists are encouraged to submit works of photography in any form (digital, film, printed work, photo-collage, photo-manipulation). Please email no more than three entries to allens20@xavier.edu with “Behind the Curtain: (Last Name, First Name)” as the subject line.  Include in the body of the email: your piece title, medium, and (if you already have it printed) the dimensions, plus your name, and what school you attend. Artists accepted into the exhibition will be contacted by July 22nd.

A planned group exhibition titled We > Me: 17 Artists Explore Hamilton Neighborhoods tells the ongoing story of Hamilton, the 10th largest city in Ohio, by uniting multiple perspectives and interpretations of the theme backstories through lens-based art. The exhibition is an opportunity for adult artists living within 60 miles of Hamilton, Ohio who work in photography and/or lens-based media.
