FotoFocus Symposium Rescheduled for April 2022

In mathematics, the Greek letter Delta means change. In 2021, the Delta variant means the same.

The 2021 FotoFocus Symposium: Telephotography was originally scheduled to take place in-person October 9 & 10. But as the era of Such Interesting Times We Live In churns on — and with it, Covid-19 — FotoFocus has chosen to reschedule the Symposium for April 9 & 10, 2022. Because, well, the organization wants to share art and ideas with the public, not a virus.

The FotoFocus Symposium, AutoUpdate: Photography in the Electronic Age brought together a rich diversity of speakers to address digital technology’s impact on photography and video, and its disruption of art making and news cycles in a media obsessed world. This series of lectures and panel discussions included international artists and speakers addressing photography’s part in the current global crisis of information exchange; the fate of documentary filmmaking in a “post-truth” age; and a historical and philosophical assessment of digital imaging, past and future.

AutoUpdate Exhibition Artist Announcement

FotoFocus ​is pleased to announce the 44 artists selected from an open call for inclusion in the group exhibition ​AutoUpdate​, which examines technology’s impact on photography and video. Featuring artists from the Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, their work will be on view from ​September 14 - November 16, 2019 at ​The Carnegie in Northern Kentucky. The reception will be held on ​October 4 from ​5-8pm with a special performance by artist ​Maggie Lawson at 7pm​.
