Columbus Spotlight Weekend and Bus Tour
Spotlight Weekends highlight FotoFocus Participating Venues within specific geographic locations where artists and curators will be on site for talks, tours, special events, and featured programming. This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of the FotoFocus Biennial, exploring art within the communities that create and present it.
To celebrate the Participating Venues in the greater Columbus region, FotoFocus has arranged a free, round-trip bus tour from Cincinnati, OH to Columbus, OH on Saturday, October 5. Passport Holder exclusive, seating is limited.

Ming Smith: August Moon. Unveils the essence of Black life in Pittsburgh’s Hill District, echoing August Wilson’s iconic plays. Smith’s photos capture the resilience and humanity amidst struggles like Jim Crow and redlining, inviting viewers to explore the beauty and depth of ordinary Black existence. Curator: Brooke A. Minto.
Ming Smith: Transcendence. Encapsulates Smith’s visual journey through her hometown of Columbus, OH, drawing from her personal experiences. Through a carefully curated series of images, she orchestrates a poignant narrative of self-reconciliation with her roots, converting pain into expression. Curator: Brooke A. Minto.
Fragments of Epic Memory. Blending historical and contemporary narratives, visitors encounter the Caribbean and its diaspora from the period following emancipation through today. Curators: Julie Crooks and Daniel Marcus.

Tony Mendoza: Short Stories. Spanning a body of work compiled since the mid-1980s, Mendoza couples photographs with short autobiographical stories to encapsulate his life experiences. Curator: Jordanne Renner.
